Bringing the Church Together...

On Friday, June 2nd New Hope, along with 14 other churches on the island of O’ahu, celebrated God’s greatness.  It was the launch of the Sprit of Aloha weekend.  A weekend where the Church gets out of the church in order to truly be the Church by worshiping together, and reaching out to the lost together.  Over 6,000 people crammed into the University of Hawaii’s Stan Sheriff Arena for a night of worship and a concert with Grammy Award winning Casting Crowns.

Casting Crowns has a true calling of God to lead the Church, not only in worship but to challenge the Church to step into it’s calling - to go into all the world and share the Good
News - to reach out to those that we sometimes view as less than desirable.  With hands lifted high we celebrated God’s goodness in all of our lives that have been saved from dead ends.  That night over 30 people joined the Body of Christ by giving their lives to Jesus! There was a man a section away from where we were sitting that when the call was put out, his hand shot up like rocket.  He was crying out to God to save him.  He then ran as fast as he could to the front in the excitement and conviction of the Lord.

This is just the beginning.  Over the weekend, there are so many ways in which the Church will be reaching out.  From a basketball clinic for underprivileged kids to the cleanup and repairs at four Kalihi housing projects.  All of this to get he opportunity to share the Good News.  We’ll keep you posted!
