Eleven Years of New Hope
Eleven Years of New Hope
On September 10th, New Hope Christian Fellowship celebrated eleven years of miracles, changed lives and service to the King of Kings. It was exciting to be a part of a wonderful celebration of His love reaching out to a lost and dying world here in Hawaii. Here is a little history of New Hope and how your financial and prayer support is reaching thousands around the world!
When you stroll through the bustling weekend services of New Hope Christian Fellowship, it’s hard to imagine that New Hope started as a quiet whisper from God, just Eleven years ago. In 1995, Pastor Wayne and his wife Anna moved to Oahu from Hilo, Hawaii to start an Oahu church. They had been pastoring the New Hope Hilo church for 12 years and planted nine others, when God called on Wayne to plant a church that would serve Oahu and beyond. As he and his family prayed over this calling with the other church leaders, Wayne sensed God’s urgency to begin something new in Oahu.
New Hope began on September 10, 1995. More than 7,800 people received Christ for the first time during the church's first six years. The church has grown to over 12,000 weekend attendees and eighty-three churches have been pioneered under New Hope's church-planting ministry outreach. New Hope O'ahu is currently listed as one of the fastest growing churches in the nation and one of the top 25 most influential churches in America in 2006.
It really is amazing how the Lord can take ordinary people and do extraordinary things! Just in this relatively short period of time the Lord has used New Hope to touch so many people. It’s all pretty simple too. Take some people with a love for the Lord and a lot of heart and in the end the Lord does amazing things. Some of the more amazing times aren’t just found on the stage, but in small groups that permeate New Hope. There isn’t a morning that you could walk into a Starbucks here on Oahu and not see a New Hope member doing devotions and journaling with fellow believers. It’s easy to see all the glitz and glamor of a big church, but if it’s not followed up with real love for Jesus and one another than its just another gathering of a lot of people.
Thanks so much for your service to Jesus by supporting us financially and in prayer! You are a true part of all that God is doing here at New Hope. Your support in so many ways is going to those that once where lost and broken hearted but now know Jesus.
Thank You and Happy Anniversary!
