Saved Onboard!

Jessica Joy works aboard the Pride of Aloha here in Honolulu and is totally sold out for Christ and serving Him everyday while cruising the Hawaiian Islands.  Audrey and I had the privilege of meeting her at New Hope’s last baptism service and the cool thing is that she wasn’t just there to witness 175 new converts making a public proclamation of their new found relationship with Jesus, but she was bringing people from the ship. The Lord was using her to reach out to those that work around her!  What an awesome example to us - that we to can be a light in the world. It doesn’t matter where we might find ourselves.  Each one of us has a mission field and we have been placed in the very city, workplace, church and families that we find ourselves in for a reason. The following is an article that was inspired by Jessica’s mission on the Pride of Aloha that ran on New Hope’s website - www.eNewhope.org.

Meet Jessica Joy

“Hi, my name is Jessica Joy. What’s yours? I’m coming to you from the Cruise Ship the Pride of Aloha. (That’s what the “C” stands for.)” We wanted you to meet Jessica because this is her story. Not only hers, but that of the many people at New Hope Oahu who work together as a team to help her fulfill the ministry God has given her.

Mission Field on the Sea
As she said, she works on a cruise ship, but that job just makes her ministry possible and is literally her mission field. What she does is bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to the many people who work on that ship and can’t make it to services at New Hope. She does that by getting a DVD of the service on Sundays, and then playing it Sunday night for all those who want to see it in their small group of about fifteen. For those who can’t make the on-ship gathering, she circulates the DVD. The result? Great for the Kingdom of God.

Co-worker said YES! and was Baptized
As she tells her story, we meet a guy, a friend of hers, who has just come to meet Jesus as his savior. He is one of those who are cultivating their new walks through New Hope’s services. The guy she tells us about just got baptized in water as a result of the team’s effort in getting the DVDs out to Jessica. She says, of her co-worker on the ship, “When I first met him over a year ago, I never would have believed he would say “Yes” to Jesus. Changing his lifestyle was not something he was convicted about, nor was it convenient on this ‘floating Nineveh’.”

Today he has begun Journaling and is really excited about it. In addition, he has led his younger sister to the Lord and she has been baptized too. He told her he wants to be used by God to reach his whole family! Jessica says,

Priceless DVDs
“Thanks to New Hope, and all who serve, because lives are being transformed. Praise be to God for letting us be involved! They depend on those DVDs and love you for them.” Jessica says their “Satellite” service onboard the cruise ship, really blesses believers there, and rejuvenates their hearts for the week as well. God is using dozens of people, as part of the team He has organized, to reach the Pride of Aloha Cruise Ship.

Now about that “C” in the title. How about a “C” for Christ!
